Okay, I have a high end new Mac Pro which is being used for high-def video editing. I need eSATA ports to hook into 3 PCIe slots as I have external enclosures with 60TB of storage. So, I am in need of one graphics card. The 8800s aren't packing enough I don't think and I sure as heck don't need a Quadro. So, I am looking for something in the middle.

Can I hook something like this up in my Mac Pro? Will Leopard recognize this without any hacking? I have a perfectly working hackintosh already, I just need this one to be running top notch for the business. Please let me know.

the sil3132 has drivers to make it work with a mac. check the silicon image website. i dont think it matters what brand it is, but they have them on newegg.

as for your GFX card, i think you have to flash it to make it think it's the mac version. Kinda bunk that the gear for mac is more expensive then the same thing for pc. Also the 8800gt is enough for me. I do a lot in FCP and motion, but lately have been doing realtime editing of live hd with my hack. everything gets hotter, and i can really only have the one program open because I dont have alot of ram, but i get no dropouts. Are you in FCP or AVID for your high end editing?

We are using FCP Studio for all of our editing....

I am getting a little lag with the 8 core, 3.0 GHz Harpertown, 16 Gigs of RAM, and the 8800GT... Who knows, maybe I should upgrade my RAM setup? Either way, thanks for the tips... Is there any tutorial out there of how I can go about flashing that card?
