Leo4All 10.5.2 update with Kalyway Combo 10.5.3?

Will updating my installation with Kalyway 10.5.3 Combo Update work? I have tried looking but I can't find any relative topics.

I may be soon to find out; slowly DLing the patch at the moment. Technically it's still OS X so I guess it should be ok... if not, we've got Time Machine

Naw, I bricked the lappy trying to install 10.5.4... both JaS and iAtkos releases didn't work at all. Time-machine time! I've not finished downloading the patch yet, but now that I've restored to 10.5.2 I have a chance at applying it again.

Unless anyone knows what the hell you're supposed to do with PPF files then I guess we'll never know (that's what I seem to have downloaded, after unzipping). I don't have a Kalyway install DVD image to patch, and even if I did I guess I'd still need to reinstall using it anyhow.

 

If no one else has bothered to suggest anything no-one is probably going to; 10.5.4 is all the rage now. *sigh* if only the fscking thing worked I'd just go down that path.

 

Why don't we badger the people in this thread? That seems much more relevant.

I wonder if you could "extract" the ppf and just overwrite (backing up of course) the files it patches.

Probably not, PPF files are for making changes in pure binary, right? It's not an archive so much as a giant "file" of its own. I use stock kernels and suchlike, if I've got the chameleon bootloader installed... perhaps I could just use Apple Update. Why're you after 10.5.3 when .4 is now available, out of curiosity?

yes, it works.....at least here on my setup.

 

anyway, id rather get leo4allv3 and then do the upgrade.

 

v3 was more stable and had better xbench results on my setup.

I can't find any combo update for my brothers AMD machine that updates to 10.5.4. I have an Intel C2D machine (mine) that I suppose can update automatically as soon as I compile IONetworkingFamily for my 3c905-tx nic.

I thiiiink if you manage to get the machine to 10.5.3 then you can just use apple's software update to get to 10.5.4.

Leo4Allv3 10.5.2, 9.2.0 ToH kernel

-> Kalyway 10.5.3 update, deselect all options, means using back prev kernel

-> Apple Software Update 10.5.4

-> mod_bin 9.4.0 kernel

Finally found the right package (kalyway 10.5.3 combo update) and downloaded it.

 

From 10.5.2 I ran the update installer, then WITHOUT CLICKING RESTART, I ran the kernel installer, selected the vanilla kernel (vanilla works for me) as xiongguoy said, if you want to keep your current kernel, run the kernel installer without making any selections.

 

Then i rebooted, at the bootloader I typed:

 

update -v

 

it updated the files, restarted then booted.

 

Then I just ran Apple's software update and downloaded the 10.5.4 update, which was roughly 50mb rather than over 500. This worked on both my laptop and desktop.
