I have a dell m1530 with multiple issues, the biggest and most annoying being I have no internet access, I understand that my wired card has no support (it's the marvell yukon one) but from what I've seen/read my dell wirless 1395 WLAN mini-card should work it has the BCM4315 chipset, and I've tried ticking the box in my install dvd to install the broadcom drivers, but that doesn't work, I've run the Broadcom enabler script, and it did nothing, I even downloaded and transfered the dell post installer I found with the actuall name "dell 1395" listed and used that, I have a few other issues being that my mac partition won't allow me to restart or shutdown, it clears the desktop then after about 20second the screen goes black, but no restart and the power light remains on. . . I was wondering if it's possible that because I could not do a proper restart the post installer did not work, I have since noticed that my particular bcm chipset isn't supported in the sh script but I thought the post installer which even lists it as dell should have worked (I'm probably reaching here on the restart thing, but I'm desperate) it's really annoying to have to restart my computer and boot into linux or vista

also my sound doesn't work, I have a sigmatel card, but that's a lesser problem.

someone smarter than me save me please!!! :-(

is all you nead. the genius bar.

all your drivers are there + guides

thanks man, but I'm not one of your typical new guys who needs a lesson on searching I've used many a forum with my time in linux, I found that thread about a week ago and since have tried everything in it (as mentioned above) such as the dell post installer and the bcm43xx_enabler script, however my card still remains unrecognised, within the system profiler it says there are no pci cards installed. . . not sure if a mini-card counts in that, but I would suppose since my pci-e graphics card isn't a mini card might not be either, and under airport I get the message "no information provided" so possibly it's not recognising my mini pci slots or just not the card, either way I'm stumped and I haven't found a solution either with the search engine on here nor the almighty google

thanks again for trying to help candykane, but I've already tried those fixes ten time over, even reinstalled my system a few times

thanks alot for the help, sorry if I sounded a little rude, was aggrivated that night, happy to report tho that I am now replying from my mac partition via wireless, turns out the card I have doesn't like the speedstep kernel I was attempting to use, I reinstalled after I caused a kernel panic trying to update my system to 10.5.4 (btw any idea how to do this safely?) thinking that might help, once I reinstalled I pick the newest 9.2 sleep kernel instead then right after my reinstall ran the dell laptop post installer and got two finger scrolling, lid sleep, and my wireless working

thanks again for the help, still working on getting sound (not sure which card I have but it's running with a sigmatel codec, all I can find out thru vista, should look in my linux partition)

well goodnight and goodluck to everyone, maybe someday mac will just give up and release mac os X for pc's as well just like every other os out there. . .

but I suppose then they'd loose the only edge they have, my pc laptop will run circles around a normal macbook pro :-)

Hi mbath08,

I am currently having exactly the same problem as you described in your first post, not being able to get my wireless 1395 working on my m1530 having tried everything from the suggestions in macgirl's guide and the dell installer. Unfortunately I don't really have a clue what I'm doing and there's a chance I haven't even done those things correctly......but that's another story :P

Would you mind explaining again what you ended up doing to get yours working? And are you using Kalyway?

Thanks so much, I really appreciate any help.

click one of the 2 links above

they explain the proces of

basicly its just coppy kext file to your desktop

open it with a text editor

mod the io file bye putting your device id in it.

saving it

and well install the kext file.

Hi Candykane,

Thanks for the reply.

I managed to get it all working.

It turned out to be some of the customizations I chose at the initial install of Kalyway. I don't remember what I chose first time round, but this time I made sure I selected the driver for my sigmatel card and for my the broadcom wireless cards. Then when I used the dell updater after the install everything was working :))

Anyway, thanks again for the reply, and thanks so much to everyone who contributes on this board.
