jasoncheesemanuk Posted August 20, 2008 Share Posted August 20, 2008 Recently installed Kalyway 10.5.2 on my PC - working very well. Just went to burn a CD/DVD and both failed. In Disc Utility it looks like its writing and then says that it failed. Downloaded Toast Titanium and the progress window is stuck at 0% and never moves. I have a Lite-on DVD recorder LITE-ON DVDRW SHW-1635S which appears perfectly in System Profiler under Disc Burning LITE-ON DVDRW SHW-1635S: Firmware Revision: YS0G Interconnect: ATAPI Burn Support: Yes (Generic Drive Support) Profile Path: None Cache: 0 KB Reads DVD: Yes CD-Write: -R, -RW DVD-Write: -R, -RW Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO Media: Insert media and refresh to show available burn speeds The device is an IDE device but I've hooked up a convertor at the back so it comes of a SATA connection on the board - bought it from Maplin in the UK. I can read no-problems from the drive so this is a bit confusing Thanks for any help with this one. Went out and bought a Samsung SATA DVD-RW and plugged it in and I can read and write to this drive no problem at all. So the IDE-SATA convertor from Maplin doesn't work properly - beware!!
