tiki16
HelloI recently had 10.5.2 installed and it was working fine up until last night when i shut it down, it installed 6 updates before shutting down. Upon starting it today, i am able to get to darwin to choose which partition to boot. Windows boots fine. When i try leopard i get a screen that says you must press power or restart button. The message reads as follows: BSD process name corresponding to current thread:unkown Mac OS version: version not yet set Darwin Kernal version ver 9.2 I don't know what the updates were but suspect that is why I am having this problem. Anybody have similar probs? Do i need to reinstall kalyway 10.5.2? OzTambo
Was one of the updates 10.5.3 Coz I think I did the same thing a month or two ago... I reinstalled however there are some potential fixes booting with -V, then run a seach for 10.5.3.... But it is easy enough to reinstall on a different drive and drag your files over 15 minutes tops... IMO Here is a link that may help... Update to 10.5.3 went wrong Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/121861-leopard-wont-boot/#findComment-862315 Share on other sites

OzTambo
Your call...Hard drives are cheap but I would use the disk utility before install and erase the partition. I have lots of spare drives so I usually install on a new one just to be safe I have screwed up to many times while doing three things at once to do it again... My data is worth the extra 60 seconds to swap out a drive so if you have one that is my 2 cents... but it is your call.. When you load make sure you DO NOT check (keep up to date with upgrades) or what ever it says at the bottom of enter your personal info screens. The go and download the kalyway_10.5.3_ComboUpdate from Kalyway here is the disclaimer that nobody reads.. kalyway hackintosh10.5.3 combo update for sse3 intel only ! READ Carefully !!!! 1- install comboupdate ! don't restart ! 2- install kalyway kernel pkg ! choose kernel you need for your pc ! (if you want keep your old 9.2 kernel so install this pkg without selecting 9.3 kernel !!!) 3- reboot and type update -v and cross the fingers ! if you stuck at bsd root after reboot ! so type "update -v" without quote at f8 darwin prompt ! it should work ! caution : you may experienced boot problem related to gfx card ! especially with 7xxx nvidia series and ati ! if happen type -v -x try this update at you own risk !!!!!!!
