I have just completed an installation using the Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD. I had many problems during the install so I didn't select any network drivers at the install time. Now I want to get the wireless working. I am able to boot the machine from an Ubuntu CD and it confirms I have a Broadcom B43 wireless interface, I now need to understand how to get it working.

I read from another users post...

I downloaded kext helper and IO80211Family kext. Use kext helper to install IO80211... and it will tell you to reboot. My laptop detected the wireless before I could even reboot. Wireless internet!

I was able to find a copy of kext helper (beta 7) but I cannot find how to download the IO80211Family kext file. I looked inside /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/Contents and I seem to have something in there.

Anyone know where I start trying to get the OS to identify the wireless?

There has been mixed success with OSX86 and Wifi on the Dell D600. This is down the fact that there are (commonly) two types of Wireless devices available... the Intel 2200bg, and the Dell 1395 (or something like that..). The Dell 1395 is supported wonderfully, and I think might even work out of the box, but the Intel 2200bg has got really bad support. Drivers are still in the process of being fully ported from Linux drivers, and currently it only works with its own network scanning program, on WEP/Unsecured networks (no WPA! ;) ).

Hope that helps you any...
