veamon
I have an 80gb "main" drive, and a 160 one I plan to use for Time Machine. I only have about 25gb that will actually be backed up. For some reason, when I run the initial backup, it seems to lockup at random times. Sometimes it'll be 1gb, sometimes 7gb, sometimes 9. Then the progress bar stops, mouse moves about 30 seconds after I move it it, and I have to power off my computer and start again. Anyone else have this problem? I noticed that the hard drive activity light is still going, so "something" is happening, but I can't just sit around and hope its working. I'm running 10.5.2 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/121335-time-machine-locks-up/ Share on other sites
veamon
For anyone else who has the problem and no one can help, I got it working. Basically, I just turned time machine on, and let its schedule pick it up. Trying to manually run the backup seemed to be the killer. KibosJ
My AMD 10.5.4 'kind of' does this. It starts backing up then stops at about 5GB, then 7GB then 9GB and randomly at about 25GB. It doesn't slow or lock the machine up though and will eventually carry on. If the backup is only about 5GB then it generaly goes smooth without any problems.
