Hey everyone, been trying for a while to get leopard on this thing, and ive tried numerous different install types, the latest being iDeneb v1, where it booted and i got a message saying i had to restart, and after a restart the message would just keep recurring. Here are the specs of my laptop, maybe you can recommend a certain DVD. Thanks in advance.

Specs of my laptop:

Model: HP Pavilion dv6140us

Processor: AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-56 1.80 GHz

RAM: 2048 MBs (2GBs) (actually 1918 because of video) and they are two 1GB sticks.

Hard Drive: 120GB

System Type: 64-bit

If you need any more info on the laptop, just let me know. THANKS!

just tried your method. it either hangs during boot using -v or gives me a message to restart if i dont use -v. i also just tried Leo4All v3 and im getting a still waiting for root device error.

When you do -v, where does the system hang? What is the last line of text on screen? Also, how long did the system hang before you shut it down?

it finally started up without using -v, but now i cannot join any wifi networks... any suggestions? i did add the broadcom driver during install

This may be what you need. There are instructions inside the zip file. This came from ..TheOne.. originally from this post: dv6000 series AMD

Instructions from his post:

Symptoms:

1) I've got 1024x768 screen resolution and it is impossible to select another one from System Preferences.

2) My wireless card is on and it's recognized by OSX, but when I search available networks, it doesn't find anything.

Solutions:

1) Install included NVDriver.kext, NVidia.kext, NVinjectGo.kext using kext helper. Remove IONDRVSupport.kext from /System/Library/Extensions folder. Reboot and open System Preferences panel. Now you can choose your correct screen resolution.

2) Install included AppleACPIPlatform.kext, AppleAPIC.kext using kext helper. Reboot. Now you have your shiny Wifi working!

awesome. those worked perfectly. thanks. now my only issue is i let it sit for some time (not sure how long) and it popped up with a "you need to restart your computer" message.. any ideas with that?

I have heard of that one before. *EDIT - I've read some folks had this problem when they installed power management. It is not always stable and therefore, not recommended to have installed. You can try and delete the extension AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext if it exists.

Also, your install may not allow your system to sleep properly. This is VERY common. Definitely go to System Preferences, Energy Saver, Sleep Tab, and set the computer to NEVER sleep when inactive. NEVER put display(s) to sleep when inactive. Uncheck "Put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible.

Might I recommend that you try changing your kernel to the StageXNU Kernel 9.4.0 for Intel/AMD SSE2 SSE3? It fixes the single CPU irritation in System Profiler. It is also supposed to help the system be able to use sleep. When my system went to sleep, it never got back out of black screen. This kernel did, however fix my random system crash bug. It may help your restarting issue. Dunno, but it's worth a try. The kernel is very, very stable.
