I updated using the Kalyway Combo update 10.5.3 then just used Apple Software update to get to version 10.5.4. I am not quite sure what you are saying here, what did you do exactly? I take it that 5.2 was working on your system and you updated to 5.3 and now you are stuck? What kernel are you using currently?

I only know of one way to 10.5.4, and that's through Apple's Software Update. If you're running a non-Vanilla kernel, however, your system will break.

I'd wait for verification on this, but I believe you could update to 10.5.4 through Software Update, boot with "update" when prompted for special parameters, and install an older, compatible kernel of your choice. If I'm not mistaken, booting with "update" will use the last working kernel, which should allow you to access your computer and reinstate your chosen kernel.

Good luck.
