Hello everyone,

After searching the internet for some time I have decided to ask for help here. I have tried several different versions of Mac OS X Leopard to install onto my Acer Aspire 7720 laptop. Most recently I have been trying to install from Kalyway 10.5.1 which installs but will only boot in safe mode.

I then decided to try Kalyway 10.5.2 and downloaded the DVD last night. Trying to install this morning and I get the same problem that I get when trying to install iATKOS 4i. The laptop turns itself off at a random point during the installation. Thinking that this could be an overheating issue I used the cpus=1 flag and the -v flag and checked that nothing else was happening untoward. I can spot nothing going wrong and I don't think the issue is one of overheating.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Many thanks!

EDIT - I actually think that this now might be down to overheating....any ideas why the Kalyway 10.5.1 install works with no problems but the 10.5.2 Kalyway and the 10.5.4 iATKOS do not? There must be something going on at the Kernel level...perhaps it stops my fans?

iAKTOS has a problem with fan but install 10.5.1 and and download 10.5.3 combo update from green deamon

And this will resolve the problem with the laptop overheating and shutting down during installation? Please can anyone provide any more details?

Hi there,

I was just wondering how did you succeed in installing Leopard on your 7720. I'm having the exact same overheat shutdown issues during install.

Moreover, I've had 1 or 2 successful installs but, but installation does not boot up, not even in safe mode.

I've tried Kalyway, 10.5.2, and 10.5.1, didn't get much further iwth either or.

any help will be grately appreciated.

Thanks

Well I've seemed to have solved the shutdown issue I was having during installation.

BIOS on my 7720 was running at a lowly 1.22. Upgraded the BIOS to 1.43 (latest version available on Acer Support page EUROPE, North America does not provide BIOS updates)

Available here http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_7720.html

Installing Kalyway 10.5.2 right now.

Will keep you updated with install
