tierro
Halloa! I'm about to take the challenge once more... I once tried to run Uphuck 10.4.something on a P4, but that's a while ago. Recently I got myself an AMD quadcore box and made my dad happy with the P4 running XP smoothly. I always believed Osx86 was an Intel-only thing, until someone in some desktop thread showed his AMD box working with Osx 10.5.2. I tried to follow some instructions he sent me but I decided checking the installation guide and hardware compatibility list would clarify things better for me. None of the components of my computer are listed in the HCL of 10.5.2, though I believe my DVD-rom burners should work . No, I really wonder if my two sorta cheap graphics cards, my motherboard, my CPU and the two HDD's are going to work with this. The motherboard I'm using is the M3A32-MVP Deluxe, the Processor that's on there is the AMD Phenom 9750, accompanied by two Asus HD3450 cards. I'm not sure if Osx will be able to address the full 4 Gb of ram? One Harddisk is a Western Digital Raptor of 150 GB's, It's split up in two 75 GB partitions and I wasn't planning to split it up more, on the other hand I've got enough space left on a WD Caviar of 500 GB, so that's the disk on which I prefer to install it. Alternatively I've got a laptop harddisk of 40 GB plugged onto an IDE-->USB2.0, would I be able to install it on this disk and use it on other computers as well? Back to the DVD-Rom players, I suddenly realise I should be concerned if these work. These two are connected to the first IDE channel as master and slave. The two harddisks are connected to the onboard sata thingies, so this fragment of text from the installation guide confuses me ... 2) Set that Hard drive as the primary master. MAKE SURE TO SET THE JUMPER CORRECTLY. CABLE SELECT WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY. 3) Make SURE that your DVD drive is set to the SECONDARY MASTER and that you also set that jumper correctly. Cable select again will not work. Also I've got the two graphics cards for triscreen, so I'd like to see them both working with OSX, both still capable of dualhead. I suppose doing the VMWare fusion trick won't be a problem for me, 'coz it's able to boot my excisting vista partition, right? I eh... obtained the Kalyway DVD already, and I already learned that won't run in VMWare. I guess this is everything I wanted to ask. Basically my question is: How do I make this work? (Or does this work already?) Thanks in Advance! Rob. tierro
Gave it a try anyway. Popped in my DVD, I didn't even get the "Still waiting for root device" message so ye, that's where my Mac experience ends for now. Let's wait for the next system and hope it will work on that one...
