Hey guys,

i just tried updating from kalyway 10.5.2 to 10.5.3 using the apple combo update and the basic guide involving removal of the appleintelcpupowermanagement.kext

and editing the startup script to refer to dsmos.kext.

well now im a little frightened because my machine won't post at all. it goes past the bios screen where you can press f2, and then all i get is a cursor forever.

before installing osx86 i was sure to install intels most recent bios and everything was working with the new bios for a few days. i've had 10.5.2 running without a hitch for a day before this happened.

well after a bit of messing around i was able to get my old acronis image with xp32 back and running. it seems installing the 10.5.3 combo update corrupted the boot on the xp32 partition and thus wasn't able to acess xp or osx. im not sure why this happenned as it wasn't covered in the guide though.

im going to try using another method to update to 10.5.3

this problem has actually popped up again twice, after i have had my system running smoothly. the strange thing is that i didn't touch anything, it booted into windows or osx without a hitch, and then suddenly, randomly, on boot i just get a cursor - forevor.

now i suspect this is some problem related to boot.ini or tboot since recovering my xp partition solves the problem. its getting mighty annoying having to do that though. is there anything i should be aware of that might be causing this?
