If you can install Vista then go for Vista......I am running Vista Ultimate 64bit......change BIOS to AHCI and then install Vista..... :)

I will do that. Then install Kalyway on my all-ready-to-go FAT32 partition that I made 4 days ago. (when I started :P)

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!! :):):)

Glad to help.....even though it has taken a while...... :)

Hehe :)

I just hope the version that I'm downloading has the ACHI driver installed :)

Because there IS a retail version but I don't know if it's ''already activated'' :)

Just to put everyones mind at rest......you will be buying Vista at some point?....... :)

BTW did you physically check if your DVDRW is a SATA DVDRW....also your CDROM drive.....

No, but to phycically check this I must open my PC right?

Yep.....just look at picture of MOBO and towards the bottom right hand corner you will see the 6 SATA connectors....trace back what is plugged into these in your PC.....

I'm not really fond of opening my computer dude. Can't I just see in Everest or something?

Or just try and if it fails THEN try the next thing to get it working?

EDIT: Going to install Vista now. Cya in a little bit.

OK try it without opening case, as the HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GH10L is a IDE/EIDE device .....but it is not clear if the GFIDUT UZ49MJ09A SCSI CdRom Device is a physical device or not.....do you only have one DVD/CD player/writer installed or two?......

On my other computer, retrying other Vista, waiting to finish downloading :)

I have 1 diskdrive, the HL-DT-ST one. So I guess I just can't install Mac OS X?

No.....you can because it is a PATA DVDRW and you have a PATA HDD......so you should be OK...... :)

UPDATE:

Hmmm....I installed Vista but at the end of the install the installer says that I have the wrong hardware configuration for Vista, but I installed Vista before :)

I configured my computer as AHCI before beginning so maybe that's the problem.

I've set it as RAID again now and I'm installing Vista again. I can't install OS X when configured as RAID right?

So IF the AHCI settting was the problem I see no other solution than installing XP and downloading a AHCI driver for XP and then install OS X, or only running OS X and maybe dualboot with the help of Bootcamp (I understood from a friend that's a dualbooting tool in OS X?)

If someone could please confirm this:

I can only install OS X when configuring as AHCI.

EDIT: Install with my old configuration didn't work either. So I guess the Vista DVD was just corrupt.

I'm installing OS X right now using this guide: Guide

Now I just hope I'll get this one working :censored2:

With some BIOSs setting SATA RAID also enables AHCI......but in your posting you said that your BIOS gave RAID and AHCI as separate options, as well as IDE......

If Vista install does not work then I point you to back to here.......

I'm giving up man. Thanks for are your help but I got a working PC right now after a day of disappointments and trouble.

The excitement of running on OS X if far gone.

Thanks for all your help!

I'll backup this topic on my HDD so that when I decide to ever install OS X again, I know what to do.

In AHCI mode with Vista or in RAID mode with XP.....?

It is true that installing OS X on x86 PC is not always easy or even possible for everyone.....you need to feel confident about being able to back up and/or recover or reinstall your OS systems.....

RAID with XP

I feel confident but my system is finally running stable again so i'll let it be for a while.
