Something about the Darwin Kernel - Mac os X

Just the name and version of the kernel I think.

EDIT: I'm running on Windows XP now, I want a Dualboot with Max os X.

Hi there, if you want help then you need to give much more information about your present PC system than the information you have given already....... you should include the motherboard model number, motherboard chipset type (Intel, nForce, VIA, ATI etc., using CPU-Z for example), CPU type (Intel or AMD), graphics card type, model number AND video RAM, the hard drive type (SATA or PATA [i.e. IDE]), the DVDRW type (SATA or PATA), keyboard and mouse (PS/2 or USB) and other device IDs e.g. chipset details, etc......

I apologise.

WinXP

Intel

4gb memory

32-bit system

SSE3

Here are a few screens of CPU-Z:

CPU

Mainboard

I attached the Everest Report too.

No problem.....we all start at the same point..... :hysterical:

You have a

Compaq-Presario SR5310NL

MOBO

Asus IPIBL-LB i.e. HP/Compaq name: Benicia-GL8E

Intel® Core™2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz

Intel® ICH8R/ICH9R SATA RAID Controller

NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT (512 MB)

ST3500630AS (465 GB, IDE)

Realtek RTL8168C(P)/8111C(P) PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC

Audio CODEC: ALC888S

so I suggest that you have a go at installing Kalyway 10.5.2 and also look here for SATA driver

Great man, thank you very much!

If you have a good tutorial on adding the kext file I would kiss your feet ;)

For adding kexts to .iso I guess you would use PPfoMatic for Windows

For adding kexts in OS X Kext Helper B7 or OSx86Tools...... :)

Update to 10.5.3 then to 10.5.4 using Mysticus C* updaters..... :)

Also see here if you want to use PS/2 keyboard&mouse rather than USB....... :)

Thanks but that are all Mac programs, I need a way to add a kext file in Windows to the .iso.

PPFoMatic is an .exe file! Info on Google on how to use it too....

OMFG!

I just read over it completely!

THANKS! ;)

EDIT: So I just need to search for a kext to PPF converter or something?

I'm desperate and on the edge of giving up.

I need a PPF SATA patch for PPF-O-MATIC or a kext to PPF converter.

EDIT2: In the Kalyway download folder there is a ADD KEXT TO DISC folder:

Folder

And in that folder, there is a readme that says this:

Readme and folder

The folder in the background is the ADD_KEXT_TO_DVD folder.

So if I understand the readme, I can just add the .kext here, run the COMMAND file (change it to .cmd first otherwise Windows doesn't run it)

and then burn the .iso and it all be fixed?

THANKS!

Your current HDD is IDE and your DVDRW may be SATA as Everest lists it as SCSI.....

So why not just check your BIOS settings via F10.......tell us what options you have set for IDE and SATA plus checking

Configure SATA as "AHCI" or Serial-ATA Configuration [Enabled]

JMicron SATA / PATA Controller [Disabled].....if JMicron present.....unless it works for you [Enabled].....but JMicron is known to cause problems for some....but JMicron patches for OS X Install DVDs are now appearing......

JMicron Controller Mode [AHCI]....if present.....

Execute Disable Bit [Enabled]

ACPI APIC Support [Enabled]

ACPI Suspend Mode [s3] or [s1] or [s1 and S3]

If your DVDRW is a SATA DVDRW then plug it into one of the ICH9 SATA ports, set your BIOS to "Enhanced IDE Mode" and use the driver from this thread http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=88335

I don't know if it's smart to change BIOS settings. I don't know anything ya know.

And can I change that? Because I want to dualboot with XP.

I will post it here in 10 mins though, starting up my laptop to post here now.

Ok, since i'm a BIOS newbie, I not understand your words. But I'll just copy the text from the ''Advanced'' tab in my BIOS.

Primary Video Adapter [PCI]

PS/2 Mouse [Auto Detect]

Onboard LAN [Enabled]

Onboad LAN Boot ROM [Disabled]

SATA1 Controller Mode [RAID]

Onboard Audio [Auto]

Onboard 1394 [Enabled]

In your BIOS do you have any otions for IDE?

For SATA1 Controller Mode what options do you have apart from RAID?

Does your BIOS give you the option of saving your current BIOS settings to a file or to CMOS?

1. Yes, read 2

2. IDE and AHCI

3. only to CMOS

At present you only have one HDD installed which is an IDE drive but for OS X to install and run you must set the BIOS to AHCI.....but this will cause problems for XP unless AHCI for XP has been installed already....when Windows has started, go to the Control Panel to check your System Properties. In the Hardware Configuration list, check under "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" to see if "Intel® ICH9 SATA AHCI Controller" is present.....

Ok, thanks!

I will download the AHCI driver for XP then.

Or is it smarter to first install OS X and then XP?

EDIT: Got a link handy for me that I can slipstream in my Pimdows? (my name in stead of Win :))

It depends whether you are willing to have Windows go to a blue screen after you change the BIOS to AHCI but have you checked to see if it is already installed.....?

No i didn't. Don't know where it should be.

See my earlier post above.....instructions were given!

See my earlier post above.....instructions were given!

Nope

Only the SATA / RAID controller.

But I got one though:

[LINK DELETED]

Can I just slipstream the .inf files into my nLite program for my Pimdows?

EDIT: was a 64bit version. The pain in the ass is that I got one for 32bit, AND it's an .exe but I need a floppy and I don't have a floppy drive in my PC.

EDIT2: I've just read on an other forum that Vista has a ACHI driver already installed, anyone can confirm?

Because then I'll just be dualbooting with Vista.

Nope

Only the SATA / RAID controller.

But I got one though:

Filefront - the driver

Can I just slipstream the .inf files into my nLite program for my Pimdows?

Windows is not my main OS so I have no personal experience of needing to slipstream files onto a CD but the file you point to may be 64bit..... which version of XP are you running 32bit or 64bit.....

Also be guided by here and here.....noting the following

Ok, thanks. But since I've read on several forums that Vista already has ACHI support, that would be the smarter and easier choice right?

I'm running on a 32bit system.

If you can install Vista then go for Vista......I am running Vista Ultimate 64bit......change BIOS to AHCI and then install Vista..... :)
