Chipstik
Ok, here goes. I have a kalyway distro of 10.5 (Lepoard) and installed it on my Dell Inspiron 1525. After installation, the only way the system will boot up successfully is in safe boot. (-x). If I try to boot it normally, I get the grey screen with the apple logo on it, and the spinning indicator thing. After a while this just freezes. I can use the Quickset keys to adjust the volume, and i can hear it being changed. Also every now and then, i can see and use the cursor. When i use the -v flag at boot, the system halts at /system/library/CoreServices/coreservicesd[40] : SFLSharepointsEntry: :CreateDSRecord: dsCreateAndOpen (Alex's Public Folder) returned -14135 I was thinking maybe its a graphics problem as the system still responds to volume change inputs and so on. Also, is it normal that in safe boot there is no way at all that i can edit files. It says that i don't have the correct permissons when i try to save it. Thanks, Alex Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/119953-only-booting-in-safe-boot-x/ Share on other sites
Chipstik
It's ok. I sorted it by installing X3100 Kexts. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/119953-only-booting-in-safe-boot-x/#findComment-849676 Share on other sites

Then Installing the Kexts. /sbin/fsck -fy /sbin/mount -uw / rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/NV* rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions.mkext rm -rf /System/Library/SystemConfiguration/ApplicationEnhancer.bundle exit Hope this helps somebody, if it does, let me know Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/119953-only-booting-in-safe-boot-x/#findComment-850155 Share on other sites
