We use G5's and Powerbook G4's at work so I am wanting to get OS X running at my house so I am not restricted to the laptop at my house. We do video editing and photo editing. I am wanting to only spend $400 to get it up and running and then I will be upgrading different areas later on. Please look it over and let me know what I will have problems with or what I should change. Is that a good heatsink to overclock with? My current system is an Opteron 165 and I overclocked it when I first purchased it but it was on the stock cooling. Will that Rosewill PSU be good enough until I purchase a new one? As for the HDD I have a 300GB, and 200GB HDD I am going to use. I plan on using my DVD burner as long as it works. Are there usually any compatibilty issues with DVD Drives? I have a question about the video card though. I currently have an ATI X800XL video card installed in my PC. On The List it lists the X800GT, so I was wondering if the X800XL would have a chance of being compatible? If not what is a cheap compatible card that will be able to run a 25" Dell Monitor? vbetts Posted August 7, 2008 Share Posted August 7, 2008 Looks fine to me. The video card should be compatible. When you upgrade, the lowest series of video card I would go to, is the 3850 seeing it's going as low as $90-$94. No need for a dvd burner if you have one already. I am going to buy that same motherboard when I get around to my build and I am very cautious with buying RAM (Right now my PC just restarts in both Windows and OS X about once a month because I have 2.6 Volt RAM in 2.5 Volt slots). So when I looked into this board, I checked the Memory Compatibility List located here. I know that other brands of RAM may work on the board, but I thought you might want to know... I have the same heatsink you do, and I get about 3.2 ghz right now on an e7200, I would get a case fan, but that's about it. The motherboard only has 1 IDE connector so I could only connect 1 hdd and the dvd drive. So I am looking for like an IDE Controller or raid card or something to support the other hdd.
