sf1234
Hey all, 'Ive installed iATKOS to a 500GB USB external from my DVD drive in a P4 2.8GHz Dell (im running XP home on the internal drive). The install succeded, but I get a flashing cursor when I select the USB drive to boot from. When i type -v in the boot: prompt, the final message is something along the lines of the partition being read only... I've spent a long time googling this issue, along with boot loaders and such, but the only thing that doesnt seem to bad is editing the boot.ini file in XP. How to I add an external drive to boot leopard into the boot.ini file? If there is an easier way to use boot loaders, or totally avoid them then please inform. Thanks in advance, Shaun Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/119759-booting-leopard-from-usb-drive/ Share on other sites

Thanks in advance, Shaun Acronis Disk Director has a boot manager that I have used in the past. It helps in a lot of situations. There is supposed to be a method for using Chain0 that can work as well, though I've never had any luck with it. Chain0 information here. As far as the "read only" issue, that seems a little more vexing. Have you checked to make sure that you have the most updated BIOS? I've heard issues before that some BIOSes will boot a usb drive in read-only.
