queglay
Hey guys, I've been trying to install the kalyway 10.5.2 release- everything goes fine until it gets to selecting the partitions. I've tried to buy the most compatible hardware to install osx86. I've read 3 different guides and a few posts but haven't found anything covering this issue. when i erase the fat 32 volume (originally a primary partition) and set the label to "osx" it then comes up greyed out and labelled instead as- "disk1s3" the volume refuses to mount, and when i try to verify i get this- "verify volume failed: unrecognised filesystem" configuration as follows: 2 drives WD 200 gb sata drive xp32 (primary partition) xp64 (logical partition) osx (primary partition) osxtest (primary partition) WD 750gb sata drive 1 logical partition. intel 975 bxdx2 q6600 4gb ram geforce 8800 gts 512mb ram i configured all the partitions as per the instructions using partition magic. if anyone could point out what might be wrong it would be great. thanks for any help in advance. queglay
in order to simplify things, i decided to plug in a spare 750gb drive as my second drive. however, if i use the erase method again, i get the same problem - the partition becomes greyed out and wont mount. i tried to use the partition operation in the osx install program as well but i get - "file system formatter failed" so basicly none of the tools to erase and format an osx journaled volume are working for me. strangley enough, if i dont use any of the osx installation tools, and create a plain fat32 primary volume in partition magic, then the installation can at least commence. however im guessing this is the wrong thing to do as it is not an osx journaled volume. if i let the installation continue, it gets about 20% through before saying "install failed. the installer could not install some files in '/volumes/osx'" Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/119749-kalyway-1052-not-installing-cant-recognise-os-journalled-volume/#findComment-847935 Share on other sites
queglay
can anybody throw me bone? i've tried reading through more posts and some xbx2 threads but still haven't come across someone running into my problem. ive read everyone of bjmoose's responses for the last 9 months or so. I tried using the make "hd bootable leopard" iso to do the formatting of my drives but i had no luck with that either. the volumes cannot be mounted at all once the erase operation is done. if i try to do a verify that reports errors. if i try to do a repair i get "1 volume could not be repaired because of an error." i also can't find the option in the bios to disable acpi, though the s1 and s3 options are easily found (i know this problem only relates to hds popping up as removable). thanks again. nickhe
it's a problem that you have to many splits make 2 splits and make on off them to leo and other one your windows/linux or what ever os you have then after install you can start spliting the HDD Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/119749-kalyway-1052-not-installing-cant-recognise-os-journalled-volume/#findComment-848474 Share on other sites
Danneman
I had a similar problem when I tried making my mac-partition into a primary partition (instead of logical). Just format it as fat 32 and logical, and it will probably work. Just remember that you need to use the tboot since it supports extended partitions (check Kalways guide for details and where to download).
