acer aspire 1642WLMi installation

alright now for an install on an acer aspire 1642WLMi.

install was fine for 10.4.5 altho i needed to use a 10.4.3 install disk to get to disk utility to format one of the partitions. (10.4.5 didnt like not having anydisks already mac formatted).

installs fne only with a external monitor installed. <---pain in the ass!! also i cant get the native laptop monitor to work with acer's 915gm mb and intel's gma900(Mobile Intel® 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset Family Video BIOS:1219) i would like to try to make it work but the forums have yet to come up with a simple solution yet. (well other than the 2 wire trick.) not gonna try it on my friend brand new lappy! unless some1 says something diffenrent about it .

 

graphics are good-when external monitor is attatched- qe and ci are there and working

no wifi yet - uses intel proset 2200

internal NIC - working perfectly

sound - not working yet- havent touched it yet. i believe its intel hid audio using ich6.

 

well now to scour more of the forums.

 

P.S. if anyone has the same model or having any solutions some of my problems, any help would b greatly appreciated.

I'm on the exact same boat as you matey.

 

Only works with external monitor plugged in and the intel wireless and audio doesn't work either,

Which i believe to be Realtek.

I haven't tried the internal nic but it detects it along with firewire and the usb ports and dvd drive.

 

I did try a dvd and the video performance seemed a bit scrambled too.
