njprbuick
First of all, thanks to everyone who has contributed to making all this stuff work - I've been running 2 AMD machines and an Intel box with OSX for over a year and this is the first time I've had a question I haven't been able to answer by looking through already posted threads. The scenario: Two nearly identical Athlon based machines (same mobo, chip, network, HDDs, memory, etc - different cases, keyboards/mice and displays) bulit from Zephyroth 10.5.2 updated to 10.5.4 with the ASU update tool and modbin 9.4.0 kernel. Audio drivers (ALC888) were installed with Taruga's HDAPatcher from a codec dump obtained locally in the most recent Ubuntu. Network is enabled on PCI LNE100TX with the tulip.kext that's been around for a while. Machine 1: has no problems with mDNS and Bonjour - all AFP and iTunes shares appear and load with no problems, both from real Macs and OSX86 boxes. Machine 2: upon installation of kexts, works fine. However, once rebooted (-v -f or not) only half of the shares appear. It is possible to connect to the non-showing shares through the Finder, but that leaves no fix of which I'm aware for iTunes. The only thing that's been done differently between the machines (besides installing different applications) is that I once upon a time used "diskutil repairPermissions /" on machine 2 in trying to solve another problem. Booting into safe mode solves the networking problem, but then there's no sound - kinda pointless for iTunes sharing. ;-) However, that would seem to indicate there's some sort of conflict between the audio and network drivers. Before I either a) copy the entire /System/Library/Extensions directory over from the working machine or nuke from orbit and reinstall, does anyone have any thoughts? I know there's been issues with Bonjour and OSX86, but I'm so frustratingly close to having a very little reason to ever boot into Windows again (curse you Supreme Commander!). Thanks in advance for any help anyone is able to offer.
