Find out sound card type

I have a Dell Inspiron 1521 with Kalyway's 10.5.2 AMD install. I found an audio driver that works half way. I think this may be due to the fact that the driver is for a sound card that is in the family of my sound card, but not the exact one. I went on dell.com and the Vista driver they give me for my card is a Sigmatel STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio. How can I find out my exact version?

For the exact version of driver you can get into BIOS and then check the version of soundcard. If you are not able to find it or the data is not given in there then you need to get a bootable Linux disk, Ubuntu or a Knoppix will do ...for me Ubuntu worked fine...once you load from it then need to find the place where it is stores "codec#0" file in sound folder. that is the dump for you soundcard. All you need is to open the file and know which model you are having and the search for the best HDA patcher and the just do it
