OK firstly here is my system

Intel Core2Quad q6600

Asus Striker Xtreme M/B with nforce chipset

2gb ddr

500gb western digital sata hard drive

geforce 7800gt

IDE dvd rom drive

i have no other installations on the hard drive and have partitioned it with the disk utility. i have tried both types of bootable drive (GUID + MBR)

i get through the installation and the system reboots. it should reboot into OS X for the first time but i get the darwin loader press enter (or F8) and it just brings up 3-5 lines of code that flash up so quick and then the system restarts

i have tried typing in -v get the same problem

-x sme problem

-x cpus=1 same problem

and as i said before have tried both kalyway and iATKOS

does anyone have any ideas what i can try as its driving me crazy?

thanks

evening bump

Hi there,

Have you checked out the excellent threads by Mysticus C* for Intel CPUs and nForce chipset MOBOs:http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=87901

and http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=109102

If you follow Mysticus C*'s guides carefully they should get you going OK...his guides and updater packages have got me up to running 10.5.4 on a 650i MOBO with a Q6600..... :P

A key point will be whether or not you have a SATA or PATA DVDRW as the former may cause problems.....But if you need further clarification on each step read the Kalyway 10.5.2 (IMHO the preferred choice because of giving no SUIDs errors) and iATKOSv2.0i 10.5.2 install guides in my blog......other forum readers and members have posted saying that it helped them install OS X successfully....the following posts here on pages 81 and 82 by sQuadron, which show that iATKOS v2.0i was successfully installed using my blog guide and is running on a ASUS striker exteme mother board nFORCE 680i.....whereas he had problems with leo4all v3...... :)

ok, im going to give that a good read and check it out. ill get back to u in the morning as to whether it works! iv got both a sata dvdrw and an ide dvdrom. couldnt even get either iAtkos or kalyway to boot using the sata dvdrw but got them installed ok using my ide.

i know they were bad burns cos i burnt them on verbatim media @ 4x and verified the burns afterwards too!

OK let me know how you get on.....I suggest reading Mysticus C*'s threads in conjunction with my blog guide which shows step by step what I did to successfully install OS X 10.5.2 with both Kalyway and iATKOS v2.0i..... :).....if you can install Kalyway that would be good as it generates no SUIDs errors when Repairing permissions unlike iATKOS v2.0i.....:)

I Have a P4 3.4ghz asus P5PL2 motherboard everything works except audio how can i fix that i use iATKOS can anyone help please

It all depends on your audio card chipset codec......check here

to start with.....

Haxi! just followed your blog and it works perfect using kalyway 10.5.2

only thing i got wrong was the network card driver. would i have to reinstall leopard to get the driver done or can i do it through leopard itself?

thanks :D

Glad my blog got Kalyway 10.5.2. working for you....... :P

You just need to delete the incorrect network card driver once you have identified the correct .kext file in /System/Library/Extensions, Repair Permissions, and then run the right driver installer or install the correct .kext file....as described in my blog....... :)

When it is fully functioning you can then go from 10.5.2 to 10.5.3 using Mysticus C*'s v1.4b Combo 10.5.3 Updater and from 10.5.3 to 10.5.4 using his Delta 10.5.4 Updater...... BUT you may have to reinstall your NIC driver if it is not an option in the updaters....... :)

my motherboard is not there can i use usb audio or soundblaster card

Not sure what you mean by "my motherboard is not there" nor exactly what you have in mind by USB audio but you may be able to use a soundblaster card but need to check InsanelyMac for for information on your specific card i.e. its audio codec and hence locate the correct driver etc...... :)

BTW do you think my blog explains the installation steps clearly enough for a newbie to follow? Let me know if not....... :censored2:

Yeh man it was perfect! i only started looking into this like 5 days ago and have been struggling by myself all this time. As you can see i only joinded the forum yesterday. The only thing that got me first time round was this bit

1. Boot from the Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD Intel_Amd Install DVD by pressing F8 at boot-up to bring up the "Boot Menu", then selecting the DVDRW Drive and pressing Enter.

2. On DVD Darwin boot loader appearance, press F8 quickly and at the "boot:" prompt, type "cpus=1 maxmem=2048 –v" (without quotes)

it sounds like 2 different steps, basically i was expecting another darwin bootloader for me to enter "cpus=1 maxmem=2048 –v" but after the first boot i realised u meant during step one.

that was basically it, but like i said after my 1st attempt it was sorted immediately.

Thanks for that helpful point....I have now amended my blog to explicitly indicate that the "Boot Menu" is the PC BIOS Boot Menu NOT the Darwin Bootloader........ :hysterical:
