I have Dell 4700.

Previously successfully installed OSX86 10.4.3. with Jas PPF and dualboot with WinXP.

The OSX86 partition is a 20GB primary partition after my WINXP partition.

I have downloaded MacOSX_10.4.4DVDPATCHED_Myz.iso (included Myzar PPF image and 10.4.5 update) from the :( bay recently. I tried to install 10.4.5 with the patched dvd from the scratch by formatting the HFS+ partition (and set to active by WINXP diskpart).

I have no problem in booting the patched DVD and I selected all options (including 10.4.5 update) except X11 support during installation. The installation went smoothly and completed uneventfully.

However, when the PC reboot, it showed error operating system with dark screen. No Darwin bootloader at all.

Can anyone enlighten me in solving my boot problem after 10.4.5 installation, please?

What are the correct steps I need to follow if I am going to use MacOSX_10.4.4DVDPATCHED_Myz.iso to install OSX86 10.4.5?

Should I install 10.4.4 first and update the OSX86 to 10.4.5 after installation or can I install the 10.4.5 with 10.4.4 in a single process?

Thanks in advance :P

Dell Dimension 4700

P4 3.2GHz HT with SSE3, NX,

i915G chipset

512 MB DDR RAM, 160 GB SATA HD

Could you enlighten us to what the error is.

The Bootscreen does not appear bby default when installed using this DVD because there is a verbose flag.

Post the error and people can then try and resolve your problem, otherwise.....

what exactly is this x11, I went ahead and installed it on mine, because i noticed that gimp (or was it photoshop) needed x11.

anwayz, I cannot get gimp to even work, with x11 installed.

but back to the main question here what exactly is x11?

I repeat the same process and have a fresh installation with MacOSX_10.4.4DVDPATCHED_Myz.iso . This time the OSx86 10.4.5 reboot without any problem.

So I cannot reproduce the error.

Thanks for the patience to look into the problem.

Here is my suggestion for those with P4 (SSE3 support) and i915G chipset users, you can do the native installation of OSx86 10.4.5 with MacOSX_10.4.4DVDPATCHED_Myz.iso without the hassle of going through VMWare.
