Not exactly sure what graphics card I have right now. I will find out later. The Patch burn program helped out a little. In my disk utilities it now shows that I have a DVD Burner SOHW-1633S. However I poped in a DVD movie and it opened up a folder but would not let me play. I also tried to burn a cd (music) and it did not recognise the blank CD when trying to burn. It did recognise it when I inserted a blank CD and asked me what program I wanted to use.

I will find out what Video card I have later today.

Thanks for the posts.

uhh... you do know that iDVD is NOT a dvd player? (its for authoring your own DVDs).

it sounds from your posts like you're trying to play a movie, in which case you need to use DVD Player (/Applications/DVD Player.app), not iDVD. Failing that, try downloading a unibin version of VLC and trying to play the DVD in that.

i do know that a lot of people had problems playing back DVDs with unsupported graphics cards, so you may be out of luck.
