Hello friends, I'm new to 86xOS phenomenon. I'm really striving hard to make iATKOS v4.0i running on my Dell Vostro 500 Notebook. The problem is that the os itself gets installed seemingy without any problem but after reboot it continues with the Apple Logo and momentarily flashes a blue screen followed by a permanent black screen and i have to manually shut down the system. I tried manually removing the Nvidia, ATI, extensions from the installation but still getting the black screen. I could not afford a Mac, but the eloquent functioning of the Mac operating system is what driving me to install it on my notebook. What am I doing wrong? Is the network hardware causing problem?

Please help me because i really need to make it work!

The only thing I can say is that it does sound like a Video driver problem. Try removing all drivers from the computer (perhaps do a reinstall, and install no video drivers) and see if that fixes it. Network card being the issue hasn't happened to me, so it may not be that.

Thank you Wayfarer247 for the quick response!

You're right the problem is with the Display itself. I deleted the ATI, GeForce, NVidia and Natit files. But still the display went blank. Then I connect an external LCD monitor. Now the wierd part is that when I boot OS X with the external display, it begins booting but where it was showing the black screen, it switches back on it's own to the internal display which now shows the Welcome screen. That means I can not get the notebook screen to work without the help of an external display.

One more thing, in the System profiler in OS X, the external display is set at 75Hz, while the notebook display shows N/A. By searching a bit here and there, i came to know the Display model number as: GMA X3100, and peculiarly, my notebook LCD only supports a refresh rate of 60Hz. Is that causing the display problem? Can i fix it?

Thanx in advance.
