TAZmoger
I Already installed MacOS, i didn't erase my WINXP partition in case MacOS didn't work and because i have to teach my family how to use the new OS. What i made was create a new unfformat partition where i installed MacOS.... The real problem that i had, is that when i reboot or turn off my MacOS system, it never get to start again, not even my winxp system, i got this error : HFS+ partition error.... And it didn't boot any os not even winxp... of course with a boot manager i got winxp to start, but MacOS wont start.... Please i really want this to work, if you could help me.... Suser
Same problem here. I just installed Mac OS X 10.4.5 Myzar patch. Everything went well. Could start applications, everything I did with 10.4.3 (except the damn sound card). But when I restarted the pc I get the HFS+ partition error and it stops. ???????? What's wrong here ? I also installed it with the windows partitions still on the hard disk. What I did was erasing the existing 10.4.3 partition and installed 10.4.5 on this partition. Any advise ? macgirl
Two things to check do you have any extended partitions before the Mac OS partition. Whick kind of partition does Partition Magic shows? TAZmoger
Here is a pic of my HDD, there isn't an extended partition before MacOS partition, ans partition magic sees it like an AF type partition... jdugas
I had the same problem and I somehow fixed it... After re-installing 4 times just to make sure it wasnt just quirky... I booted into partition magic 8 and removed all the partitions and 'fixed the MBR' Next, I booted into the OSx86 10.4.5 install dvd and went into the disk utilities > *Partition* manager. I clicked the drop down list and selected 2 partitions instead of current. I applied the settings, erased the first partition. Installed OS and rebooted with the dvd in the drive (but didnt hit enter to boot into dvd). I then enabled the root user, logged in as root, replaced the com.apple.Boot.plist so that I could get the GUI on bootup and repaired disk permissions in the disk utility. Rebooted and everything works great. Hope this makes sense... I am completely new to MAC Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11858-hfs-partition-error/#findComment-74830 Share on other sites

Suser
I also got it solved. I reinstalled the OS X but wiped the whole hard disk. Created new partitions and now it works. It's strange that you Partition Magic still works and sees the AF type partition of Mac OS. Each time I start Partition Magic on my pc it crashed because of an non recognised partition ????? You all use version 8 ? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11858-hfs-partition-error/#findComment-75144 Share on other sites
