Biovital Posted July 30, 2008 Share Posted July 30, 2008 I've got Leo4all 10.5.2 working excellently on my system that is using a P4 2.8 Prescott. I ordered E4300 C2D from ebay and will replace it. However, since I've got OSX already installed, what will I need to do, if anything? Since the P4 is single core, wont I need to reinstall OSX for it to recognize dual core cpus? I'd rather I didnt if I could help it. Also, Leo4All runs only when I use the netkas kernel included in the installer. I tried using Vanilla but it wouldnt boot. When I install my C2D, do I have to reinstall and choose a new kernel, prefereably the vanilla so I can do OSX updates? petrosh Posted July 30, 2008 Share Posted July 30, 2008 You dont need to do anything. Replace the processor and reboot. Go into your BIOS and make sure your BIOS recognizes the new CPU. Thats all. Biovital Posted August 3, 2008 Author Share Posted August 3, 2008 So I installed the CPU yesterday, and booted OSX. No probs, and it seems to run much faster (and it ran great on a P4). Boots in almost half the time it seems, and loads the desktop much much faster as well. vbetts Posted August 3, 2008 Share Posted August 3, 2008 Conroe(I think the E4 series is conroe if I remember right) core is way better than netburst, even if they were both single core,(Which the p4 is) the e4300 would still do better than it. Then, you have an extra core to take the slack.
