aneelley
I am using Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD and it is working great. It installed right off the bat. I have been lurking the forums for a couple of weeks and was surprised to not see anything on the dv9235nr model. Here are some issues I am running into. 1 - wireless not working. 2 - sound not working. 3 - after desktop is up for awhile (30 minutes maybe?) it is like the system is trying to go into screen saver. Screen goes black. I move the trackpoint and the backlight comes on, but the system won't wake up and I have to hardboot it (power switch down for 5 seconds until power off). 4 - If I do the updates that are available, it tries to get "MacOSXUpdCombo10.5.4" package. It tries to install it and says it can't be installed. Says it could not validate the contents of the package and then I can just click restart. The system then restarts and I get the grey screen with the dark grey apple and the grey spinning cursor. This goes on for about 10 minutes until I hardboot it again. After the hardboot, it just goes back to the same screen. If I don't do the updates, it stays fine. I would like to know how to get the wireless and the sound working. I can live without doing the updates, I suppose. If anyone can point me to a topic on how to do those I would be greatful. Also, I hope I am running the install correctly for this particular model and selecting the right options, etc. Any light on that subject would be great as well. aneelley
Update: Somehow, I got the sound working by messing around with the optional sound drivers. Not sure which one I used, but I will document it as soon as I find out. Quick question: After this is installed, are you supposed to be able to download the updates from Apple or is that a "no no" because it will break your install? aneelley
Here is what all I selected in the install and I have sound working: additional fonts no language translations kernel_vanilla_92 (only) NVinject graphics drivers only leave audio drivers at default - Intel NVIDIA VIA ATI HD Audio Controller, NVIDIA AC97 Audio,Realtek Sigmatel Conexant AnalogDevices HD Audio Codec Networks_Cards - default - all selected Wifi_Cards - select all Mobo_Chipsets - default - all selected Thirds_Applications - select all Patches - add TimeMachineFix - rest at default I was able to install all updates. I didn't install the Mac OS X Update Combined 10.5.4 560MB update because I believe this breaks the install. The QuickTime 7.5 60.0MB update didn't work. It told me it couldn't be saved.
