TOS 1.04
Hello all, Boring bit about me: I'm new to InsanelyMac... but I'm not new to OS X. I have not kept up to date with the OSx86 scene as much as the vanilla OS X scene, I only just picked up my first JaS ISO last year - although since then have used it quite excessively... While I will most likely always stick with official Apple hardware for my main workstation, I have found it quite useful being able to use OS X on cheap expendable hardware for other various and non-intensive purposes, and more pleasant than my alternative interface which would be some X11 window manager. Anyway enough about me, the point is i have slowly become more interested in OSx86 and it now has my full attention... What I'm on about: So, after going to the effort of learning about how it's all done, the meat being how there are various kernels that are ether patched or completely recompiled by various people, and the different bootloader/EFI emulation methods... I understood a little more about what components i want etc... what i did not understand so much, and what i have in-fact found rather confusing is all of the various releases/builds/compilations/installation-discs whatever you want to call them, there seem to be quite a number of names/releases and it's hard to find out exactly what kernels/kexts/bootloaders/EFIemulators and kexts are in each... So what I would like to know is if there is an OSx86 installation ISO list for each pseudonym/version/release with kernel/kext/bootloader details, modifications and comparisons. If not I really think it would be helpful to have for people who have not closely followed the OSx86 scene from the beginning, so they can easily choose their installation and understand the differences. And if you can excuse the cheek of such a request from a newbie to this forum to make said list a sticky for easy access. I would be happy to help organize the compilation of such a list if one does not exist... although i might need a little help of course. I am primarily interested in 10.4 for the time being due to stability and suitability to older crappier hardware but perhaps there could be a separate list for each major revision. i.e. one in this forum and one in the 10.5 forum. Apologies for being so demanding on my first post, it was just a thought, anyway looking forward to being a part of this community. TOS 1.04
i found my directions on youtube but if you look up they may still have the sticky note for the normal directions. Thank you for the suggestion tokies, but i'm not looking for personal help much... i do know how to install various OSx86 etc, I was simply wondering if there was a list/record of all of the various installation ISOs made by the various pseudonyms with a description so it is easier to find the one that suits your needs. If somebody could point me in the direction of some infos on the various releases or at least a list of all of the pseudonyms active in OSx86 past and present (cos i'm pretty sure i don't know them all), then i'd be happy to compile the list myself... this is more of a newbie reference so i realize their may not be much interest but if anyone can get me started...
