Help for an OSX86 noob... please! Post-leopard-install config problems - won't boot!

Hi all...

I've been struggling with this since morning... I have a copy of iAtkos v4i (Leopard 10.5.4) and I'm installing it on my Thinkpad T60 (SSE3, but with the Intel A/B/G, I've heard I won't get wireless :\)

Anyway, here's what I've done: I followed inihilist's guide (http://inihilist.wordpress.com/) except for the darwin bootloader it says as below:

  • Now Close Disk Utility and Select Utilities -> Darwin Boot. Type Y at the prompt.
  • At the prompt when it asks for the Disk Number enter 0. For the Partition Number if your Leopard Partition is 2nd on the disk, then enter 2 and so on.
  • Accept the following prompts and you should see a success prompt saying that so many block of data were written successfully

Instead of using the Vista disk manager, I used GParted to create a 6 GB partition from my disk holding my Vista pagefile and my working copy of XP. So that was all ready to go, I booted back into Vista, made a simple partition of it, booted iAtkos, used the disk utility to format this 6GB partition as HFS+. That's all good, everything's working peachy, Leopard installs, life is grand.

Now the problem starts.

I can't boot into OSX - when I try to open it, I get to a gray Mac screen with the Apple logo and the spinning cursor, but after a while there's the grey circle with a slash through it. So OSX doesn't work.

Next I try to boot back into Vista, then, but that is messed up (as expected) so I run the Vista recovery (after changing the boot flag in GParted to the correct drive.) The problem is, when I run this recovery, it kicks me back to a (Recovered) state, which has none of my settings - no wallpaper, no desktop, no startup programs, no nothin', and it tells me I was unable to log on properly and I'm running under a temporary user ID.

So here's the fun part: This is the SECOND time this has happened today. The first time I said "forget it" and booted Vista Recovery up and restored the state from a Complete PC Backup I did last night (Thank god for that!). Then I embarked on this journey again.

So now, can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong here?

Can someone point me to a step-by-step guide for doing this based on my configuration? (I have Vista obviously and I want to keep it as is and create a new partition for OSX to play around with and decide if I want to buy a Mac). I'm running a Thinkpad T60 2613EJU, Core Duo T2400, 2GB RAM, Intel 3495(or whatever) A/B/G, etc etc.

Any ideas are more than greatly appreciated... thank you sooo much!
