adrock42
I keep getting permissions for a user called "_unknown" where administrators, or my own user should be. Repair permissions returns nothing, although it at one point was returning "group for /etc/cups (i think) is 26 should be 0" So programs keep borking out with errors like "Cannot save, disk is write protected" or "disk is full" and I have to go manually fix the issues. The thing that has me worried is if repair permissions is actually doing anything. I mean it's certainly not helping my cause. I feel like I should just start over. I already have all my patches for the components and such, it just sucks to have to reinstall all the apps and my home folder all over again. But i would rather reinstall now then a year from now when it dies horribly. Thoughts? cheers! mac_maestro
Try using osx86 tools to repair your permissions. It seems to do a better job than the Disk Utility repair permissions. Best of luck. adrock42
duh, i didnt even think of that. It's working so far. I wish pcwiz would add an output window to actually see what the permissions are, but you can't have it all. There must be someway to re-build the permissions database disk utility uses.
