Hello all!

I am new to the InsanelyMac community, but I hope I can get a little assistance.

I ran a few searches, but could'nt find an answer to the problem I am having.

First, the disk is Kalyway 10.5.2 AMD/Intel.

The machine is:

Dell Optiplex 745

Core 2 Duo 2.13mhz

1066 FSB

64bit

3GB ram

160Gb Sata

Formatted for MBR

I have tried the Vanilla Kernel, And the speed step kernel. Every time, the OS begins to load, then I get the message: Install Failed. "Installer could not validate the contents of 'Base System' package." I have followed the tutorials, but I continue to get this message. Does anyone have a solution? I am on my 10 install with no luck.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

Update:

I have tried all the kernels, as MBR, and all give the same message. "Installer could not validate the contents of 'BaseSystem'". This occurs about 3 minutes in to the install.

I also burned a new DVD, this time at 4x, as I saw that suggested as a possible fix.

Does anyone have any ideas of where to look next?

Thanks again,

Nate

Hi There,

I too am in the same boat. I've used 3 DVDs now and every one comes up with is error. I've even tried swapping out the DVD drive.

One thing I noticed is that when I do a 'Check Local Data' on the downloaded torrent, in Transmission (1.30), I keep getting pieces with invalid hash values. I set the torrent back to download after that and the download completes again, with the log listing the broken pieces, confirming each one is now OK. The thing is that every time I do the check data, it says pieces are invalid again, but they are not the same pieces. Could the actual torrents be damaged, or could it be my torrent downloader ?? I have also used md5 (built in to mac os x 10.4.x) to do a checksum, but it never matches the published one.

Has anyone downloaded it and installed it successfully in the last few days ?

Cheers,

Dave

I'm assuming you are downloading from a torrent. Possible try another ISO of kalyway 10.5.2

It's gotta be a corrupt image.

Thanks! I actually downloaded Kalyway 10.5.1 from a different source, and I'm in the process of burning it at 1x. I think its taking longer to burn the .iso than it did to acquire it! <_< Hope it works this time.

If I have more success with the 10.5.1 version I am working on today, I'll let you know where to find it! I too, use transmission, and it seemed a little flaky, but maybe I got a little too excited when I saw the D/L was finished! Keep me posted on how your install is going!
