Ok so, I'm trying to troubleshoot a problem. I'm getting screen freezes while working for any length of time in Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Ableton Live, or while checking System Profiler. It happens when resizing an image or recording audio into my firewire device and rendering the waveforms. I was just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem with screen freezing due to an unsupported graphics card with no QE/CI? Is there a system log I should be using to confirm that this is in fact the problem?

Are there any fixes for this? This basically renders my osx86 install useless for anything but internet surfing, basic word processing etc for me.

I'm considering selling the 9600GT and getting a 8800GT or possibly a 9800GTX to see if this will solve the problem.

I'll continue to search the forums, but if anyone has any specific ideas, or can point me to an existing thream, I'd really appreciate it.

My specs:

Mac OSX 10.5.3 Leo4ALL v3 with Jas 10.5.3 combo update, installed AppleSMBIOS.kext to read correct hardware specs, running 9.2.0 sleep kernel

Intel Q6600 Core 2 Quad 2.4GHz (4 cores working)

4GB OCZ SLI-ready DDR2 800MHz RAM

XFX 680i LT motherboard (On board audio working with Azalia kext)

250GB Western Digital 7200rpm IDE drive (Mac OSX MBP)

250GB Western Digital 7200rpm SATA drive (Vista)

500GB Western Digital 7200rpm SATA drive (Vista Media files)

Sony DVD/CD combo SATA drive (working)

Palit 9600GT 512MB VRAM Graphics card (no kexts installed, detected as Nvidia Card with 32MB VRAM and no CI / QE)

Belkin USB Wireless G adapter (working with Zydas USB kext, detect as ethernet card)

Mackie Onyx 1640 Firewire Audio Mixer/Soundcard (working)
