jyoni17
hello everybody, I am new here and I think you guys rock! I'm trying to build a hackintosh (it's important to me to go as low budget as possible). I want to run vanilla kernel and to be as close as possible to 100% compatible hardware. I checked the HCLs and the forums and this is what I came up with: processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L video card, here i have two options: GIGABYTE nVIDIA GeForce 8600GT DDR2 512MB PCIe or GIGABYTE nVIDIA GeForce 8600GT DDR3 256MB PCIe which one is better? memory: Mushkin DDR2 2048MB (1024MBx2) 800Mhz hard drive: Westren Digital WD3200AAKS 320GB SATA2 16MB my questions are: 1) first of all, is this hardware compatible? 2) if it does, what is the best way to install osx86 leopard? 3) as I understand, the most recommended mobo is GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L, but according to the HCLs of Leo 10.5.2, Sleep (suspend to ram) does not work with this motherboard. does that mean that osx86 cannot have Sleep working? this is a major feature for me. 4) the HCL says that the audio is working with patched AppleHDA, but it also says in the "Fully Working w/o Patch" tab that the audio does not work. which one is right? could you explain? 5) does vanilla mean that I will be able to upgrade my Mac with apple upgrades? Thanks a lot for your help, and I am sorry if I sound like a n00b. marliwahoo
Yes, that set up looks good. Because memory is so cheap ..... get 4GB. Sleep may work in 10.5.4. Look in the link below for more info. Synaesthesia
GIGABYTE nVIDIA GeForce 8600GT DDR2 512MB PCIeor GIGABYTE nVIDIA GeForce 8600GT DDR3 256MB PCIe which one is better? DDR3 256mb is better than DDR 512mb, almost always. Noob iinfo: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=89659 I know this guide and read it already. There is no solution for the sleep problem there. Are there any hardware specs that are known to work fully with osx86 leopard? do you know anyone who is using the GA-P35-DS3L moherboard and is able to run the Sleep function correctly? Synaesthesia
What do you mean by perfectly? Usually one or two things don't work, like sleep or audio-in. As for your question, I recommend you search the forum with google, or check the OSx86 Wiki.
