Baelial
I've scoured the web looking for the answers but nothing I have found has helped. Here's the situation: I'm dual booting Windows XP and Kalyway 10.5.2 on an AMD Athlon 64 4000+ and an NVIDIA 8800GT (see additional system specs below). The install went smoothly enough and I've had plenty of time to play around and figure out exactly what does and doesn't work. I've managed to cope with just about all the issues but this one in particular is REALLY bugging me. I got VMWare Fusion 1.1.3 to run the Boot Camp Partition (my physical Windows XP installation) without incident but I am completely unable to run 3D games under it. I found I can run 2D games (like Mugen) but none of my other games seem to work. I managed to run DroneZMark (a 3D benchmark from way back) but it lagged like mad. I did some poking around and found out that the VM was only being given 16MB of graphics ram (normal RAM was fine - exactly what I set it to). Normally, one would just go to the Display settings in Fusion but for whatever ungodly reason, Fusion flat-out crashes EVERY time I so much click the Display option. I don't even get a "sorry, ur app has failed hard" message. I have tried all kinds of seperate download locations for Fusion and I've tried several nvidia drivers (the Kalyway defaults, the .41 NVInject installer, and the Nvidia Universal Installer - none of which have made any difference). I have indeed checked to see that Quartz Extreme is supported and it is. I've tried using Kalyways 10.5.3 update but every time I do it, it breaks the installation and I can no longer boot - YES I HAVE FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS - TO THE LETTER. I have even tried Zephyroths AMD Auto Updater which did exactly the same thing as Kalyways. Basically I just keep having to revert back to a backed up image of my installation. I'm pretty sure I've given all the information I know about the problem so far but feel free to ask any additional questions. I would LOVE to get this problem solved so that I can play all my games on OS X. I'm a full-blown convert and I'd just as soon delete my entire XP installation were it not for game compatibility issues. I will love the sh*t out of whoever helps me fix this so I can just stay on OS X 100% of the time.
