Hello, after deciding to swap the dvd burner in my wife's macbook to mine, which by the way was successful . I was surprised to see a really small logic board, being a natural tinker, i thought it was just the right size to fit into a small tablet sized enclosure, which I hoping to make out of the extra carbon fiber the I was using for another DIY project.. the problem is I don't know what type of screen could I use or even where I could find a screen supplier. I hope to ditch the optical drive and the keyboard, so obviously I will need some type of touch screen., my goal is to use sometjing no bigger than 8.9 inch, since any bigger would be bring me back too close to the orginal. hey, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.... :D

The one big problem you will run into is that Leopard as we use it no is not intended to be used with touchscreen-devices.

I converted a spare 17" screen with a touchpanel-kit to a touchscreen and it works nice. You get these kits cheap off ebay. But it seems that since Apple decided to develop touch-technologies and products they removed every way to control OSX via touchscreen or similar pointing devices. They even removed the onscreen keyboard that was still there in tiger.

And the most interessting applications like frontrow are absolutely not controable with a pointing device.

I opened a thread for two times looking for some folks who are interessted in this issue and have some coding-skills, but no one answered. I myself would really like to build a "touchable" Mac as small media-pc for my kitchen i.e. ... just browsing, music, video,...

I'm really hoping for Ubuntu to come out soon with a stable desktop version of their Ubuntu MID Edition - this would be an awsome OS for small media-devices - and it is built to be used with touchscreens.

Please explain what is said here in bold. The internal controller would be connected to the usb port so it would function just like any wacom (etc...) usb tablet. These usb tablets I have seen work very well with OS X. How don't they work well? Please explain.

I'm planning on adding a internal pcb controller to my macbook, removing my superdrive and making room for another hack.
