WD 500 GB

Seagate 1 TB (just installed and working)

Windows XP Pro

Kalyway Leopard 10.5.2

I really dont understand whats going on... I bought a ASIX AX88772 USB 2.0 to Ethernet Adapter because I couldnt get my onboard ethernet adapter to work(which is a Realtek 8211BL btw). I installed it but it didnt work. After some research, I finally found out how to install it. The kext titled "AppleUSBEthernet.kext" was supposed to be available for Leopard to allow Mac Air to recognize the more popular USB to Ethernet adapters, but the Kalyway package did not include that kext. The adapter would not even show up in the available USB devices while on Mac. It works fine on windows, im currently using it right now.

So I search the internet and found the AppleUSBEthernet kext and installed it and repaired persmissions. I rebooted my Mac OS and the USB Ethernet Adapter was finally being recognized, went to network settings and Mac instantly set up my connection. Everything was going fine, navigated the internet, I got onto Mac a few more times the following day or two and everything was working fine.

Now, all of a sudden, Mac has stopped recognizing my USB adapter. It doesnt even show up in the USB devices.

Things I did since then that might have affected the OS;

1.) Installed a new 1 TB Hard Drive, formatted it on WinXP and copied some files onto it.

2.) Installed an application on WinXP that allows me to view the HD I have Mac installed on. The application is called MacDrive 7.0.10. The application worked fine, I was able to see my Mac drive and get into it and copy files over to WinXP.

Logic tells me that if my Mac OS is affected, maybe the application I installed, which has something to do with Mac, did something, anything, to mess with my kext files or whatever, I dont know.

What could be going on? Anyone have any clue? I want to ask before I go ahead and re-install Kalyway.

****Update****

I went to System Info(I forgot what its called, it says all the info about the computer specs), I went to Extensions and I did not find the AppleUSBEthernet nore the AppleUSBGigbEthernet on the list. Come to mention it, it was missing ALOT of extensions, I shouldve checked to see if my video card drivers showed up, but I forgot, ill check it later.

Should the kext appear here? What exactly is this space reserverd for and why dont all the Kext packages?
