So .. I just wanted to say that I envy everyone here for what they have been able to do and I would like to learn.

Recently I have been looking on this forum and various youtube videos on how to setup OS X 10.5.x on a pre built laptop but am unable to find the answers that I am looking for in any specific area.

Long story short my question is this - I have 2 laptops (specs below) that I would like to install OSX Leopard on and would like to know what I need and how I would go about it. Also, what kind of issues should I expect? What devices will not be functional? anything else is greatly appreciated! Thank you for your support

The issues I'm seeing are:

- Your wife's laptop : Intel Celeron is a SSE2 CPU, not SSE3 so patches are needed (correct me if I'm wrong - use CPU-Z to check)

- Your laptop : I don't see any real issues except for the fact that you cannot restart/shutdown/sleep properly because of the nVidia graphics card

The best way is to try installing yourself and see if you encounter any problems. Kalyway/Leo4all/iAtkos are the most popular DVDs around.

  • 3 weeks later...

the celeron 550 supports SSE3 if i'm not mistaken... It's based on the core 2 architecture but lacks one core, speedstep and virtualization.

i was looking at getting the same laptop but i was wondering if the dell wireless card would work or not..

Thanks
