My system specs:

Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD Intel_Amd (sse2/sse3) EFI V8

CPU: Intel Celeron D 2.53 Gb

Mother: ASRock 775i65G

Memory: 1.5 Gb

Video: Sapphire ATI Radeon X1600 Pro 256mb AGP

HDD: WD 40Gb ATA / 160Gb WD SATA

Sound:Onboard Cmedia 9761A 5.1

LAN: Onboard Realtek PCI LAN 8101L

Leopard install perfect, with kernel_9.2_sleep (sleepkernel) and everithing but graphic drivers.

On first boot, i got network so i search for the video drivers, i found them here, replace the .kext and after a reboot, all work like a charm...

But later, using/ browsing files, folders and apps, i start to see strange patterns in my screen, continued working and then my system freezes, only my mouse answer.

The only way to get it back, was rebooting... the past week i try uphuck v1.3 and got the same error...

What could possibly be?

thanks in advantage!

Could be a video driver error? When i was in Tiger, get the same error: first some visual glitches, (sometimes they don´t even appear) then the system freezes, only allowing me to move the mouse cursor (Caps lock indicator also work, so i understand that the keyboard works fine).

Its strange... and frustrating, because Leopard works very smooth with my system specs...

Hope someone could help us ( Levkovski and me)

:)

One thing that I HAVE noticed with my set up... if you modify your IOUSBFAMILY.kext and make sure all the kernel versions are the same (I'll upload mine in a sec), it reduces the frequency of freezing dramatically... Also, so does keeping Aqua on Graphite, strangely enough :S

In add to this topic, yesterday i installed the OSX86 Tool app, and get this results:

I've been working all the day without any hang out or freeze at all.

Only without any modified .kext... just like after the system was installed

It's definitely a video driver error.

In deep, my video card is a Sapphire ATI Radeon X1600 Pro (Adv) 256Mb AGP

and Leopard see it this way:

Display:

Type: Display

Bus: PCI This is rare... mine is AGP

VRAM (Total): 256 MB

Vendor: ATI (0x1002)

Device ID: 0x71c2

Revision ID: 0x0000

Kernel Extension Info: No Kext Loaded

Displays:

Display:

Resolution: 1024 x 768

Depth: 32-bit Color

Core Image: Software

Main Display: Yes

Mirror: Off

Online: Yes

Quartz Extreme: Not Supported

Well, long time no update.

Actually im working at full resolution (1280x1024 at my 17" LCD), but no QE at all... :D

I havent any freeze or hang since this update.

To get this results i deleted all ATI references in System/Library/Extensions

and copy dionysos_ati1600_71c2 .kext′s, and run Extensions-Repair

after a reboot, i can change resolutions, but no QE working...

Someone can help me?
