Kyuhyong
I have a laptop from COMPAQ. Installed with Deadmoo's hd image native. Dualbooting with WindowsXP and Mac osx. Specs: CPU : Dothan 725 1.6Ghz (Capable of SSE2, but not SSE3) RAM : 256+256 (Recognized and works fine) GPU : ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 (I have to delete every ATI* kext files to boot normally) Sound : Sound MAX AC97 compatible (Still I can't hear any sounds, but mac recoginze this as AC97 compatible and volume control bars working. ) Ethernet : Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC (Works fine) Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG - (this doesn't work) Modem: Agere Systems AC'97 Modem (I haven't tried to test this thing.) ODD: TOSHIBA DVD-ROM SD-R2512 - (Works fine but haven't tried to burn any CD-R or -RW) USB : Works fine with all the port of 4. Etc Presario B3800 model has a jog-button for volume control, and mac recognize this device. So I can see the speaker icon displaying on the screen when I moved it. But still there's no sounds. And I experienced trouble running some application, such as "grab"(this even cannot run at all) or "picture viewer"(Application runs but can't see any pictures) Currently I installed fire-fox browser and have no problem with this. Have a nice day. P.S. Cooling Fan is much noisy and really annoying when using mac, compare to XP. I think mac requires more CPU loads Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/1170-compaq-presario-b3800/ Share on other sites
Tornado
Does your laptop have any audio out options on it, for like external speakers or even a mic? Try hooking some pc speakers up to those ports and see if you can hear anything.
