Hello , after carefully reading varius howtos , i tried to install Mac OS 10.4.4/5 DVD native.

I tried it first in Vmware, the installation was successfully completed , and Mac OS booted in Vmware, the partitions i created with Disk Utility in Vmware.

After that , i tried to install it natively. I created i a primary partition of type af , it is the third partition in my disk (hda3). I booted from Mac OS DVD , i runned Disk Utility and formated the af partition with HFS+ Journaled extended . The installation was completed successully.

I tried to boot it with grub , using 2 ways :

Using chain0

title MacOSx

root (hd0,2)

makeactive

chainloader (hd0,4)/boot/grub/chain0

boot

Chain0 fails to boot Mac OS

title MacOSx

root (hd0,2)

chainloader --force +1

boot

I get grub error 18

I used some other compibnations also, but it did n't boot.

To check if is all ok i mounted the partition with linux

(mount -t hfsplus /dev/hda3 /mnt/macos/) and the partition seems to be ok,

root@homepc:/mnt/macos# ls

Applications Library System Volumes cores etc mach_kernel sbin usr

Developer Network Users bin dev mach private tmp var

root@homepc:/mnt/macos#

I dont know what might be wrong.

I suspect 2 thinks

1) the partition is located beyond 1024 and it might be a problem

2) During setup the Mac OS X boot loader was n't installed properly on hda3's Boot Record.

Any help would be valuable

Thanks !!!!

The Disk Utility on the 10.4.4/5 Install DVD, for some reason, doesn't create bootable patitions! :thumbsup_anim:

I think that you could use a patitioning program from your Linux drive to create the partitions.

Good Luck,

FullMetal

The Mac OS X partition i created with linux cfdisk partition program, i formated the partition with

HFS+ extended journaled with disk Utility , is this the correct way ?

Is there any problem that it is beyond 1024 cylinder ?

I forgot to mention:

My System is P4 2.8 Ghz ,

Gigabyte Motherboard with 875

Geforce 4 Mx

1.5 Gb Ram
