I had install 10.4 a long time ago, but could not get it loaded this time on same MB, but went from IDE to SATA HD. still think it weird. Issues? Only the sound. I'm new to the MAC so i find some of these instructions to be too vauge. mainly the instructions for the sound. It would be grat if someone could make a step by step guide for the realtek sound. I will if i figure it out. I am a wiz with linux, but this mac confused. 1001001
MB: ausu P5L-VM 1394 Just a litte more info for anyone thats interested. when i first got this board ~ 6 months ago i loaded it with a tiger iso, not sure which one. i used an ide hard drv connected as master and a USB DVDROM. it worked with the embedded intel 950 graphics. no sound. no network. I just installed leopard on this board using the Kalyway_10.5.2_DVD_Intel_Amd.iso. I now have a IDE DVD as master and a SATA hard drv. on the first SATA channel. I also have a geforce 7300GT. I got an hfs+ partiton error after the install but i searched the forum and found this command that worked by booting into the install dvd and entering the terminal and typing "sudo fdisk -u /dev/rdisk0". The video works fine. I also have the Attansic NIC working, used the awesome driver I found on this forum. If anyone has questions about the NIC driver I used, just post the question under this post and i will add details. here are the issues I still have. 1. I can only boot using safe mode, -x option. 2. I can't get the alc883 Ssound to work. If anyone can provide any help on these issues it would be greatly appreciated. Here is what I have tried so far for the sound. I used this package with the folling 2 codec dumps. appleHDAPatcher1.20 alc883.dump.txt alc883.txt I also found this package and ran it and went into customer install or something and selected the alc883. alc883audio.mpkg Nothing has worked.I think I may try to make my own dump file and try the patcher again. here is the sound decription from the MB manual. Realtek ALC883 High Definition Audio CODEC, 6 -Channel audio port Support Jack-Sensing, Enumeration, Multi-streaming and Jack-Retasking Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/116835-1052-success-sort-of/#findComment-830378 Share on other sites
