davim
I updated my Kalyway 10.5.2 system with the Time Machine and Airport update before installing the Broadcom 43xx package and it bricked my system. It just keeps rebooting. How can I restore the kernel from the oringinal Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD rather than doing a clean install? bripod
davim, sorry to hear that. I was considering the same update last night! I just did a Kalyway 10.5.2 install with the vanilla kernel. I'm eager to see what solutions are available. davim
I'm re-installing as we speak. I don't think I selected the Vannila kernel the last time I installed it so it might work for you. This time I am including the vannilla kernel. I'm a newbie at this and this is the third time I've bricked my system in 2 days. I think I need to do a backup this time before playing around. Happy trails. Gujal
Time Machine and Airport update includes a new kernel which could brick your system if you are on a non Core2 cpu. to avoid this problem just get the Kalyway 10.5.3 combo update and update your 10.5.2 install. Gujal
Thanks for the info. I've got the system back up and updated to 10.5.3. How did you update to 10.5.4? Thanks As i am on Core2 CPU, all I had to do was Apple Software update to go from 10.5.3 to 4. However if you are on non Core2 Intel CPU, you can get the 9.4.0 modbin kernel and use Software update, and before rebooting replace the vanilla kernel with modbin kernel. If you are on AMD CPU You have to use Zephyroth's AMD Update Utility.
