fyr
I have got a question about the "real" amount of Video Memory of the 8600GT NVIDIA graphics card embeded in the MPB 2.4GHz. In System Profiler I see the 256MB of VRAM. It's ok. But if I boot in Boot Camp, the Nvidia the driver shows 512MB of VRAM. So what's the real value ? Can we suspect a locking feature in the driver under Mac OS X ? Or the Boot Camp driver is borken ? MacPub
windows may be seeing or adding an additional 256mb vram from the system ram, OR OSX is taking 256mb of ram for the operating system visual eye candy so theres no video lag involved when playing games or listening to itunes with the visual effects on. The easiest way to find out is to look under boot camp if your ram says its less 256mb then its take 256mb from your system ram and adding it to your vram, if im not mistaken the video card on mbp is ob board, and usually controlled through bios, like a PC's computer ob board video.
