elenore19
I'm new to mac. Well, going on like 4 months. Another thing I can't figure out has risen. So, is there? I tried figuring it out. I hate Quicktime, and love VLC. So I'm wondering how to make VLC the default program. That's my specific problem, there are also other things exactly like that but with other programs that I would like to change. Any help? Things I've tried: I've tried right clicking an avi file then checking the "always open with" button and then clicking on VLC. It works for that ONE avi file, but all the other ones that I did not do that to still open with quicktime. I've looked through the preferences in VLC and couldn't find anything. Maybe I didn't look hard enough? that's about it. I'm not sure what else to try. Thanks for the help. -Elliot Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/116511-is-there-a-way-to-disable-quicktime-as-my-default-program-to-open-avi-files/ Share on other sites
spiderman1369
Right Click on the AVI file, select Get Info, If not already dropped down, click the little arrow next to Open With, In the drop down box that appears, select the program you want to use from now on...ie VLC, Then click the Change All button... Thats it!
