ATI Mobility X600 QE/CI working, but window tearing at high resolution

Well after a full day of fiddling around with all kind of patches ranging from Callisto to Koverg I finally got my ATI Mobility X600 (PCIe 128 MB) working with QE/CI.

For the peepz searching on x600, the most easy method to install this Mobility x600 (device id: 3150) was a installer made by Bimmer(?) for HP zd8000, you can find the post here.

I can also choose freely all kind of resolutions within the Display preferences up to the native resolution (1400x1050) from the laptop.

It's a branded laptop based on the Compal EAL50 barebone:

Mac OS X 10.4.8 [JaS AMD-Intel-SSE2-SSE3 with PPF1 & PPF2]

15" SXGA+ (1400 x 1050)

Intel® Pentium M 740 (1,73 Ghz / 2 Mb cache / 533 Mhz FSB)

Intel® 915 PM (Alviso)

1024 MB PC-2700

ATI Mobility Radeon X600 128MB (350/200)

Optical: DVD+/-RW (dual layer)

Western Digital Scorpio 80 GB / 8 MB cache

Realtek RTL8169/8110 Family Gigabit Ethernet

Intel Pro/Wireless 2915 miniPCI 802.11a/b/g internal

So far so good about everything works...

Anyway there's one big problem bugging me. When I'm running the highest resolution possible on this laptop, 1400x1050 strange tearing effects start to happen when moving windows or scrolling in windows.

I tested loads of different settings and different kexts but without any succes on 1400x1050, with QE/CI enabled they all do the same.

This tearing effects obviously don't happen with QE/CI disabled on 1400x1050.

Now the strange thing is, on 1280x1024/1280x960 this strange tearing effects are gone.

Although I can live with the lower resolution I would really like to use the higher resolution cause it's so much more crisp and offers me more space.

Anyone experienced this problems before and found a sollution?

My guess is that it has something to do with the videobuffer and the higher resolution requiring too much data, but not sure.

2 images below showing the tearing issues: left when scrolling in a window (partly screwed) and right when dragging a window (totally torn apart).

When opening a new window (window loosing focus) or sizing it down/up it's back to how it should be.

Hey, to get rid of the mouse tearing problem download a program called Mousepose, its a little app that lets you apply a transparent background the the mouse which eliminates the mouse tearing.

If you still have the window tearing problem tho, i dont know of any solution but a quick get-a-round of the problem is to activate expose while the window is open, so if you want to scroll through a folder in the finder, press F9 or F10 to activate expose and the window should correct itself.

I have a mobility x600 in my HP Compaq nc8230 and although i dont have QE/CI enabled i do have res changing thanks to callisto and i get mouse artifacts so i use mousepose to fix my problem.

Also, seeing you have an ATi X600 mobility is your device id 3150 because theoretically shouldnt your .zip file work on my graphics card. I've tried evrything to get QE/CI enabled and atm all i have is res change. Btw im a total noob at this stuff so if you could give some kind of guide or sumthing that would be greatly appreciated
