I've built a system that works just fine, I used a couple parts just sitting around so the cost was even lower

Intel dual core E7200 $150

Shuttle SG33G5 $250

2gig mem $60

pioneer dvd-R/RW - had

250gig HD $50

The system took a bit of playing with but I'm running Leo4all and I've got sound, network (as you might guess) all running fine.
