p_golf785 Posted July 14, 2008 Share Posted July 14, 2008 i just recently downloaded the kalyway 10.4.10 intel only dvd. then with ppf o matic i patched it to work with AMD. the amd patch of course. i burned a dvd. boot up pc and then hit enter when it says to hit any button to install osx or whatever. then all the words scroll and it will say "waiting for root device." the famous HATED words. so then i would enter rd=disk0x1. this apparently locates the root device and it gets past the still waiting for root device and then goes into a kernel panic. so at that point i rebooted and tried -F. this skipped all of it and it went to the gray screen with the apple and the spinning loading sign. after about 3 or 4 minutes the error box popped up on top of the apple. so at this point i have no idea what to do. im running windows vista and im wanting to dual boot vista and tiger. i know if i can get it to boot i can make a partition and install tiger on that partition, because i dont really understand all of the partitioning tools. ive partitioned with the leopard installer before and it was a sinch. i have a compaq presario v2600 laptop. 80gb HHD AMD Turion 64 mobile technology ATI radeon express 200m. SSE2 and SSE3. it is an ATA or IDE. they are the same thing is what ive learned. just 2 different names. so if anyone can help me with this i would really really appreciate it. thanks. Install on vmware, load necesary kexts and then boot from the disk, check for vmware tutorials! p_golf785 Posted July 14, 2008 Author Share Posted July 14, 2008 what is a kext and what do they do? and how do you get them and load them. sorry im a noob. sorta. ive got some experience. lol. oh and what does vmware do that booting it doesnt? im not being a smartelic. lol. i know you can read that in a certain way where it sounds like it but im not. haha. im just wanting to be educated on a few things. lol. thanks.
