Took a brief break from OSX86 for a bit and when I returned I find several marvelous Boot 132 boot loader threads. I really feel that this is the future of a legit OSX86. This is for several reasons. It really emphasizes the open source nature of what is going here which encourages more original programing. I also think it somewhat encourages people to go out and actually buy the retail install DVD. Some of you might scoff at that notion. I know what some of you might say or feel about that, and I hear you...I am no angel. People will put varying importance on that issue from zero on up, but it is a factor. In any case, I hope the wonderful programers that make this scene work will take notice of this method and really give it some thought/attention/time. As always, your efforts are greatly appreciated. As it stands for me I consider OSX86 way more viable an option than ANY linux distro. Not dissin' Linux (I frequently use Ubuntu), but let's face it, it doesn't have the muscle or aesthetics that this project has.

This development/concept also does other things that are really efficiency/convenience related. For example:

1) The obvious: No more waiting for hours to download a multi-gig disk image. This means faster/better distribution.

2) Now there can be more focus on kext development.

3) Once you get your boot disk setup tweaked, it will be much easier for future installs.

When this project first began years ago, people tried to adapt OS X to their current machine, regardless of configuration. This still happens, but over the years people are now doing the opposite: building machines that will adapt more easily to the OS. There are already several post where people have modified their boot loader CD to contain kexts for some of the "mainstream" boards and uploaded these ISOs for our benefit. I see these ISOs as being more of the focus.

There are other benefits that I am sure will become more obvious as this method matures and develops. I really look forward to seeing what is coming up next!

Peace!
