coreyinoz
i have installed the kalyway 10.5.2 dvd, and i'm running with a amd athlon 64 x2 6000+, everything is working amazing, however i just wanted to know, if its possible to update to 10.5.4?i've tried using the amd updater, but it just hangs when extracting the pkg. You should be able to update to 10.5.4. I didn't have any problems with my system. Make sure your downloads folder is empty (Zephyroth ASU will try to patch absolutely everything in there, which can cause the problems.) Also check the "Modify Only" check box in ASU. This will download and patch the update without applying it. The patched update will then be left in your downloads folder for you to apply at leisure. Most users report better success this way. Once you have the patch, make sure you also have the 9.4.0 modbin kernel / system.kext package. You'll need to update both of those also, or else your system will not boot after applying 10.5.4. I applied 9.4.0 and system.kext after applying 10.5.4, but before rebooting. You can use OSX86Tools to update your kernel and system.kext if you're not comfortable with Terminal. Reboot and all is well. My system is quite stable now, haven't crashed since the update (knock on wood). You may need to restore your audio and video kexts after rebooting. coreyinoz Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/115271-amd-update-1054-is-it-possible/#findComment-820225 Share on other sites
Klemmi
Once you have the patch, make sure you also have the 9.4.0 modbin kernel / system.kext package. You'll need to update both of those also, or else your system will not boot after applying 10.5.4. One thing: Why should I do this? I mean, whats the advantage of 9.4.0 modbin? I'm running Hackintosh config from signature, did the update to 10.5.4 via ASU and did not replace the kernel with 9.4.0, systems runs perfectly, so whats the point? Don't blame me for this stupid question, but I'd really like to know... coreyinoz
@Klemmi, The simple answer is that's because it's what worked for me and others... I had a kernel panic when updating to 10.5.4 without updating the system.kext and kernel. When updating to 10.5.4 along with kernel and system.kext as mentioned above, everything went OK. There's a thread on InifiniteMac re: Zephyroth's ASU, where I got the instructions from. But as always, YMMV, so whatever works for you, works for you! coreyinoz Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/115271-amd-update-1054-is-it-possible/#findComment-832152 Share on other sites
ronaldBE
sorry to bring back an old post but just for other's info after i updated with Zephyroth's ASU and updated kernel to 9.4 along with System.kext, no boot, just a loop. Restored the 9.2 kernel and System.kext and it works fine.
